The Saturday Sun, June 27, 1992 Black Robe up for 10 awards in Oz!
Black Robe, the Canada-Australia co-production directed by Bruce Beresford, has received 10 Australian Film Award nominations. Co-produced with Toronto-based Alliance Communications, the movie stars Quebec actor Lothaire Bluteau as a Jesuit missionary among Huron Indians in 17th-century New France. Brian Moore adapted the screenplay from his 1985 bestseller. The nominations include best feature film, best director, best screenplay, best leading actor (Bluteau), best supporting actor (August Schellenberg) and best cinematography (Peter James).		The Australian Film Awards will be held in Sidney this fall. The movie, which picked up six Genie Awards last year, has grossed $2.8 million in Canada and $1.8 million in Australia. CPh
