Meet One Of My Heroes - Carolyn Parrish!
INDEPTH: CANADIAN GOVERNMENT
Parrish: The Thoughts
CBC News Online | Nov. 18, 2004
Carolyn Parrish was expelled from the Liberal caucus days after stomping on a George Bush doll on This Hour Has 22 Minutes and renouncing her loyalty to the Liberals, but her history of bad-mouthing Americans and rebelling against her party goes back further than that.
Some of MP Carolyn Parrish's more infamous statements.
Feb. 26, 2003: Parrish speaks to reporters about Canada's diplomatic initiative on Iraq. After most of the cameras are turned off, she says, "Damn Americans… I hate those bastards." She later apologizes.
June 9, 2004: Parrish calls her party's campaign a "comedy of errors," and says Prime Minister Martin should have waited until the fall to call an election. "It was like the Keystone Kops running around," Parrish tells CBC Radio.

Aug. 25, 2004: Parrish says those who support missile defense are the "coalition of the idiots." After initially denying using the word "idiots," she says, "Did I really say idiots? Please guys don't put that on tape. I already got into trouble once."
Nov. 3, 2004: Parrish on U.S. President Bush after his election victory: "I wouldn't guess what's next on his agenda, but it's probably not peace and love."
Nov. 15, 2004: In a skit for the CBC program This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Parrish kisses and then stomps on a George Bush action figure. She later says she has no allegiance to the Martin Liberals. "I have absolutely no loyalty to this team. None," she says.
Background on Carolyn Parrish
Education:
BA (St. Michael's College, University of Toronto)
B.Ed. (Ontario College of Education, University of Toronto)
Born in Toronto, Parrish was a teacher and writer before entering politics. She was elected trustee to the Peel Board of Education in 1985 and re-elected in 1988, when she was made chair of the board. She was first elected to Parliament in 1993, and re-elected in 1997 and 2000. She has served as chair of the Ontario caucus, and parliamentary secretary to the minister of public works and government services.
In 2004, her riding of Mississauga-Center was redistributed to Mississauga-Erindale, leading to a nomination battle with fellow Liberal MP Steve Mahoney. Parrish won, and went on to win the riding, but the nomination race was marked by accusations of dirty tricks, and threats of libel suits on both sides.

G.D.'s Personal Commentary
Enough is enough! Our so called Republican neighbors to the south have completely alienated us Canadians to the max. And they are doing it intentionally - yes I said intentionally! Since the Bush administration has taken great pride in squeezing are balls.
Let us look at some of the facts that speak for themselves:
We’ve been left with a closed border on our beef; blamed for SARS; criticized for our same sex marriage policies; criticized for our marijuana laws; blamed for terrorists entering the U.S. from Canada; U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice postponed plans to visit Canada next month because Washington is upset over the country's

decision to opt out of the missile shield program; allowing U.S. lumber companies to keep an estimated $3.6 billion in duties paid on Canadian imports, even though international trade regulators have repeatedly ruled against the duties (Stall, stall, stall). Even The World Trade Organization and a ruling under the North American Free Trade Agreement both concluded that U.S. complaints about Canadian lumber imports are not valid. So much for Free Trade eh - thanks to Mr Brian Mulroney - the man who sold out Canada.
Finally, any public (58%+) that would re-elect Bush for president (for a second term) has got to have a severe “death wish”. Do the “Good Old Boys” down south actually believe that they won’t be punished for the slaughter of thousands of innocent woman and children. Especially after Bush himself stated to the world that the Iraqi people would be safe as long as they remain indoors. Oh, and in the event that to many people are slaughtered - they’ll simply claim that accidents will happen - but a necessary risk that they are willing to take. (How noble of them.) Making sure to desensitize the public on issues like an American accidentally killing a Canadian soldier. They call it “Friendly Fire” - eh!
I offer a solution to the Canadian public and politicians:
Scrap the North American Free Trade Agreement on the basis of theft. It just doesn’t work and by the way we never got to benefit as they said we would (i.e.: cheaper appliances, electronic goods, etc..). What we got was hypocrisy and lies right up the ass and in spades.
We should concentrate on selling our goods elsewhere - Europe, China, Australia, Africa and South America. Anywhere but in the States. It might hurt our economy to begin with - but in the long run, we would whine ourselves off of our southern neighbor that are already talking about imposing trade sanctions against us.
I guess this is what the Bush administration would call “Friendly Trading” - eh!
